// THE THESIS
Where every seat is the best seat.
01
The table that anchors the room.
The Sen is the flagship of the ENWA collection — the piece where every design principle converges at scale. Available in 2200 mm (seats six) and 3200 mm (seats ten), it's deliberately oversized by Japanese standards. Because our team is international, we design for the world: rooms where a dinner party isn't four people.
Most furniture adapts to the space. The Sen defines it.
At up to 1300 mm deep it sets the proportions of the room around it — not the other way around.
STUDY · BUILT FOR GATHERINGSTUDY · THE DISSOLVED EDGE
The edge is where a table is touched most — every time someone pulls up a chair, leans forward, rests their forearms. Most tables treat it as an afterthought. The Sen makes it the defining detail: the ENWA Edge runs the full perimeter, a continuous curve that looks razor-thin from across the room but feels impossibly soft when your hand finds it.
Razor-thin from across the room — soft under the hand.
THE EDGE, IN THE ROOM
03
Not cut from one log — on purpose.
A top up to 3200 mm long would split and cup if cut from one piece. So we refused to. The Sen is panel-built from combined solid North American oak boards — grain laid against grain — so even the longest top holds its line for generations.
The same signature curve runs the full perimeter, transitioning smoothly from top to leg so the table reads as one continuous form at any scale. The difficulty is invisible. That's the point.
We chose permanence over the easy story.
·
The proof, in numbers.
Two honest comparisons: how many the Sen seats at full length, and how long solid oak lasts against veneer.

Two sizes, one table.
2200 mm seats six to eight; 3200 mm seats eight to ten. The longer one seats ten — comfortably. Every seat equally good, no sharp corners anywhere around the perimeter.

The Sen is finished in charcoal — our most difficult finish to develop. Deep enough to read as charcoal across the room, thin enough to keep every grain ridge tactile under the hand. Built from multiple ultra-thin pigmented layers, each hand-sanded before the next.
In raking light, the oak reveals itself through the black.
Water-based, applied in multiple passes. It protects without concealing — you feel the grain, not a coating.

Pairs with Yume.
At 730 mm the Sen meets the Yume Chair's 455 mm seat the way it should — room for the knees, the long dinner, the gathering that doesn't end at dessert. Order six chairs for the 2200, eight to ten for the 3200; the same edge geometry runs both.
Built to gather around — for years.
07
Built for gathering.
A long dinner that runs past dessert. A working surface big enough to spread out on. A room organised around one generous oak plane. The Sen sets the proportions of the room — and gives every seat the same view across the table.

The patience the eye can't see.
Before a single cut, the oak is kiln-dried twice over nineteen days — because moisture is the enemy of a clean joint. Every joint is tested with a flashlight: if light passes through, it isn't done. The full top is machined to a computed profile, then every edge hand-shaped to match.
The work you can't see is the reason for the work you can.

Every ENWA edge is designed using digital tools from architecture. The edge profile follows a continuous curve — it looks impossibly thin from across the room but feels soft and rounded when you run your hand underneath. This is the 'edge paradox' that defines the collection.
The Sen Dining Table is designed by Mililab, an architecture and design studio based in Tokyo, Japan, as part of its ENWA collection of eight solid-oak pieces. Mililab applies the same edge geometry it uses in architecture to furniture, and ships direct, DDP, to 34 countries.
