Frequently Asked Questions

Operational answers about ordering ENWA — lead time, delivery, materials, warranty, and trade. For anything not covered here, email order@mililab.co.

Orders & Delivery

Lead time is 8–12 weeks from order to delivery. Eight weeks is the factory build — kiln-dried twice over nineteen to twenty-five days, joinery cut, finished and quality-controlled. The remaining two to four weeks is sea freight and last-mile DDP delivery. We produce 8–10 pieces per month and send updates at every milestone: order confirmation, production start, finishing, shipment.

ENWA ships DDP to 34 countries across the US, Europe, Middle East, Japan, and Asia Pacific. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means we are the importer of record — duties and shipping are calculated at checkout, paid once, and there are no surprise charges at delivery. Full country list and rates are on the Shipping page.

Full payment is processed at checkout via Stripe (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna where available). For orders over $25,000 USD we offer a 50% deposit / 50% on shipment structure — request via order@mililab.co.

ENWA pieces are made to order, so we can't accept change-of-mind returns. Damage or manufacturing defects: report within 7 days of delivery with photos and we'll arrange repair or replacement at our discretion. Inspect each piece at delivery and note any damage on the receipt before signing.

5-year structural warranty on every ENWA piece. Within that, the components are covered as follows: solid North American oak frame — 5 years against manufacturing defects in joints and frame integrity; hardware (joints, fittings, mechanisms) — 3 years; finishes, upholstery, and moving parts — 1 year. Register your purchase within 30 days of delivery to streamline future claims.

Materials & Customisation

The ENWA frame is solid North American oak — kiln-dried twice, FAS grade or better. For upholstery: Kvadrat wool (Denmark, included on every piece — the same textile house used by Fritz Hansen and Vitra), Dedar Karakorum mohair velvet (Italy, premium upgrade), Italian full-grain leather (50,000 flex cycle tested, BS 5852 fire-rated). Specific options are listed on each product page.

Yes. ENWA was designed for our own architecture projects, so custom dimensions and configurations are part of how we already work. Standard fabric and leather options are on each product page; for non-standard combinations or custom dimensions, email order@mililab.co with a brief and we'll respond within 48 hours with feasibility and pricing.

Yes — leather on the seat with fabric on the back, contrasting trim, anything you can sketch we can usually quote. Send a brief description (or a sketch) to order@mililab.co.

Sora 空 is built from independent modules that lock together without tools — a Reading Nook, a Single, a Lounge, a Grand Living, or any custom configuration. Modules can be rearranged whenever the room changes. Pricing starts at $13,400 for a Single; full configurations and pricing live on the Sora page.

Design, Manufacturing & Studio

ENWA was designed by Mililab's two co-founders — Livert Lim and Miku Wu — architects with a decade of practice across residential, hospitality, and cultural projects in five countries. The collection applies the same edge-dissolving discipline they use at building scale to the scale of a chair, table, and stool.

Designed in Tokyo by Mililab. Each piece converges materials from the world’s specialist suppliers — solid North American oak (FAS grade, kiln-dried twice), Kvadrat wool from Denmark, Dedar mohair velvet and Mélange Moderne from Italy, full-grain Italian leather. Curve geometry is generated computationally in our Tokyo studio, then assembled at our long-term partner facility and quality-controlled by our Tokyo studio, with every piece inspected by Mililab before shipment. We chose this multi-origin path so each component comes from the maker who does it best — not the maker closest to the assembly line.

Both, where each method serves the design. Curve geometry is generated computationally and the major cuts are CNC for accuracy that hands cannot achieve. Every visible surface and edge is then shaped and finished with intent — sanded through progressive grits until the geometry that looked sharp on the screen feels soft under the hand. The combination is the point. Computational where computation is honest; hand where the hand is necessary.

ENWA is designed by an architecture studio, not a furniture house — every piece is resolved at the scale of a building first and a chair second. Specifically: Yume 夢 was resolved through 200 structural iterations and is ISO 7174 certified. Tsuki 月 and Maru 丸 are Red Dot Design Concept Award 2026 entries — announcement expected June 2026. Pricing is published openly. Lead time is 8–12 weeks DDP delivery to 34 countries. Other Japanese makers are excellent at what they do; ENWA is a different proposition.

Trade & Hospitality

Yes — Mililab operates a three-tier trade program: Design Trade (licensed designers and architects), Contract & Hospitality (hotels, restaurants, FF&E), and Project Partner (large brand or developer rollouts). Application-only; terms confirmed on approval. Send your credentials and project brief to studio@mililab.co and a partner will respond within 48 hours.

Yes, with one operational note: US-bound upholstered ENWA pieces (Yume in fabric/leather, Kawa upholstered, Sora) require a minimum 20 pieces per SKU at Tier 2/3 due to the 50% US tariff structure on upholstered goods. Non-upholstered pieces (Ishi, Sen, Maru, Tsuki, Shizu, Kawa frame) face a 28% US tariff and are quoted standardly. Trade team will confirm quotes on application.
