The Kawa is a long bench in solid oak — generous enough for two, sculptural enough to anchor a room. At 1800mm, it sits at the end of a dining table, along a hallway, or at the foot of a bed.
The oak platform is the structure. A Kvadrat wool cushion rests on top — removable, replaceable, changeable with the seasons. Nothing is hidden. The ENWA Edge runs along the entire base, giving the Kawa the same impossible lightness as the rest of the collection: heavy enough to feel permanent, thin enough to look like it floats.

Solid oak platform, finished to a surface you want to touch. The ENWA Edge runs the full 1800mm — computed to the same profile as every piece in the collection. No legs. No visible frame. One continuous surface.
Low and long
At 300mm, the Kawa sits closer to the ground than most seating — low enough to change how a room feels. 1800mm of oak, end to end, with a Kvadrat cushion resting on top. Two people sit comfortably. One person has room to spare. The cushion lifts off for cleaning — or for a different fabric next season. The oak stays.
In the Space
A bench at the edge of the room. At the foot of a bed, beneath a painting, or close enough to hold the small things you reach for. Kawa stays low, long, and quiet — changing the room without asking for attention.

Natural Oak
Water-based natural finish applied in multiple passes — each sanded between coats — until the surface protects without concealing. Semi-gloss. You can feel the grain. Deepens to honey over years. Eco-friendly.
Charcoal
Deep enough to read as charcoal from across the room. Thin enough to keep every grain ridge tactile. Multiple ultra-thin pigmented layers, each hand-sanded before the next. In raking light, the oak reveals itself through the black.

What Goes Into This
19 days of wood preparation. Kiln-dried twice over nineteen days — because moisture is the enemy of a clean joint. Every joint tested with a flashlight. The curve is machined to the computed profile, then every edge hand-shaped to match. Water-based finish in multiple passes, each sanded between coats.
This isn't premium for premium's sake. Built to outlast the room it's in.

Standard upholstery is Kvadrat, included in the base price. For a premium upgrade, Dedar fabrics are available including velvet and bouclé. The cushion cover is removable for professional cleaning.
The Kawa Bench is designed by Mililab, an architecture and design studio based in Tokyo, Japan, as part of its ENWA collection of eight solid-oak pieces. Mililab applies the same edge geometry it uses in architecture to furniture, and ships direct, DDP, to 34 countries.
