What is a superellipse table shape?

The Maru uses a superellipsoid form — mathematically, it's between a circle and a square. This creates a shape that feels round and inviting while using space more efficiently than a true circle. The curvature is resolved precisely before any wood is cut, so the finished edge reads thin from across the room and feels soft under the hand.

Who makes the Maru Round Dining Table?

The Maru Round Dining Table is designed by Mililab, an architecture and design studio based in Tokyo, Japan, as part of its ENWA collection of eight solid-oak pieces. Mililab applies the same edge geometry it uses in architecture to furniture, and ships direct, DDP, to 34 countries.

A Ø1300 top from a single slab would cup and split within a season. Maru is panel-built from solid white oak boards with the grain running in opposing directions, so the circle stays a circle through decades of heating and humidity.

Solid, not veneer. White oak at 1,350 lbf Janka, kiln-dried and sealed at 9–10% moisture before a single cut is made.
