Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2026Home and Seating Furniture · Ready For Market · Maru Table
The Maru Table by Mililab, a round dining table in solid white oak from our ENWA collection, received a Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2026 in the Home and Seating Furniture category. On 15 October we travelled from Tokyo to Singapore for the award ceremony, and to see Maru take its place in the Winners' Exhibition.
Mililab is an architecture and design studio in Tokyo, and ENWA is where our thinking about space turns into the objects people live with. Seeing Maru recognised, and then meeting it again in a museum, let us step outside the studio and see the design through other people's eyes.

The Red Dot ceremony at Capitol Theatre
The evening began at Singapore's Capitol Theatre, where winners whose entries came from 56 countries gathered for the ceremony. It was beautifully organised, with a warmth that made a large international gathering feel welcoming.
Against the unmistakable Red Dot stage, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, and Ken Koo, Asia President of Red Dot, welcomed the designers and congratulated everyone on their work. Sitting among the other winners, we felt both the weight of the occasion and a shared respect for the work that had brought everyone there.
The Red Dot: Best of the Best winners went up to receive their trophies. Later, short films introduced the five projects nominated for the Red Dot: Luminary, and gave us a closer look at the ideas and the people behind them.
The night closed with the year's two highest distinctions. Bloomy, a portable camping stove by young designers from Dalian Minzu University and Beijing City University, received the Red Dot: Peter Zec Prize. Walk Me, a mobility concept by Toyota Motor Corporation, was named Red Dot: Luminary 2026, the top honour of the Design Concept competition.
Maru at the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore
After the ceremony the celebration moved to the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore on the Marina Bay waterfront, where the Winners' Exhibition brings the awarded designs together in one place.
Seeing Maru in the gallery was the moment we had travelled for. The table has generous space to itself, which gives it real presence, and visitors kept stopping to walk round it and ask about its shape, its scale and the idea behind it.
Maru carries the central idea of the ENWA collection: precise profiles joined by soft, continuous transitions that invite touch. The legs lean outward and become the top without a visible joint, and because the top is round there is no head of the table and no preferred direction. It is meant to be met from every side.
A round table removes the hierarchy a rectangle imposes. Nobody sits at the end, and every conversation is the same length across.
Of the eleven winners listed in the 2026 Design Concept Home and Seating Furniture category, Maru is the only dining table. For us that gives particular weight to an everyday object, and to the care that goes into how it feels and how it sits in a room.
Conversations beyond the ceremony
At Designers' Night the atmosphere relaxed. A DJ set, canapés and drinks carried conversations between people working in different countries and disciplines.
That was one of the real pleasures of the evening: meeting the people behind the designs, hearing about their work and sharing the thinking behind ours, with the objects close by to start the conversation.
Our sincere thanks go to the Red Dot organisers for bringing the evening together, and to the jury for recognising the idea behind Maru. We came home to Tokyo grateful for the award and for the people we met along the way.
